No More Room In Hell (NMRiH) Server Installation

Recommended Server Specifications

If you are planning on hosting a steam source game, you will want to consider the following minimal requirements:

  • Intel (preferred) Dual-Core 2.0Ghz CPU or higher
  • 4GB DDR2 Ram
  • 250GB Hard Drive
  • Internet Connection - 1Mbps Upload with Static IP Address
  • Dedicated (meaning this is not also your gaming computer)

To check your system settings, click on start, in the search menu type run, in the run box type dxdiag and click Ok.  This will bring up the DirectX diagnostic tool that will enable you to view your specs from within the system section.

Firewall Preparation

Both your network and windows firewall will need to be configured to both permit and forward the following ports to the internal IP address of your server:

Steam Dedicated Server SRCDS

Steam Dedicated Server SourceTV

TCP/UDP 27015
UDP 27020

Method 1:  NMRiH Dedicated Server Powered by seDirector

seDirector (previously SRCDS Admin) is quickly growing from a small-time helper application, distributed through forums, into an all-in-one suite of game server admin tools, distributed through a content delivery network.  seDirector makes game server administration easy by saving you time and effort through automation.

Note: NMRiH Servers can only be managed with the paid version (Lite or Pro) of seDirector.  If installing seDirector for the first time, please ensure to make a backup of your entire NMRiH configuration prior to the implementation of a new installation.
Step 2: Install seDirector

Step 3: Install HldsUpdateTool (by default will install to C:\Program Files (x86)\Valve\HLServer)

Step 4: Create a folder called SteamCMD in C:\Program Files (x86)\Valve\HLServer location where the HldsUpdateTool was just installed.  Your full URL will be then:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Valve\HLServer\SteamCMD

Step 5: Download SteamCMD, unzip the file and place the SteamCMD.exe in the URL listed above

Step 5:  Go to tools -> options and add both the SteamCMD location and the HLDSUpdateTool location in the seDirector options section (see screenshot below).

Step 6: Go to tools -> options Add SteamID username and password for updating NMRiH with SteamCMD

Step 7: Go to tools -> options Add SteamID username and password for updating NMRiH with SteamCMD

Step 8: Create NMRiH Server Home Directory and Install Game Files

  • Create a new directory on your C: drive entitled SRCDS
  • Create directory within your C:\SRCDS
  • Click on Create and choose the No More Room in Hell Game option.  Chose a name for your server name.  Navigate to the C:\SRCDS folder that you just created on your C: drive.
  • Click on Create Server (see Screenshot Below)

Once you click on create server, it will prompt you to choose yes or no to actually create the server.  Upon choosing yes, the following message to the left will appear.

SteamCMD

Step 1:  Create Home Directory

  • Create a new directory on your c drive entitled SRCDS
  • Create directory within your C:\SRCDS directory called SteamCMD
  • Download the SteamCMD File and place it in the C:\SRCDS\SteamCMD folder

or download .bat fie linked to the icon to the left to automate this for you.  When clicking on the .bat file, you will be prompted to save the SteamCMD.exe file, please place this in your C:\SRCDS\SteamCMD folder

When finished (following either process), you should end up with the following two folders on your C drive:

  • C:\SRCDS
  • C:\SRCDS\SteamCMD
Step 2:  Install NMRiH Dedicated Server Base Files
Run this NMRIH Server Script in the CMD prompt as Administrator:

NMRiH Dedicated Server Base Steam App - 317670

Logon Anonymous = No

You must change steam_logon_name_here to your Steam Logon User Name

Automate Steps 2 and 3 by running the batch file by downloading the cmd icon.

Step 3:  Install [ZG] Standard SourceMod & Metomod Installation

Download the [ZG] Standard SouceMod Base Files
     SourceMod Official Version - 1.6.2
     MetaMod Official Version - 1.10.3
Create a VDF here (game folder is "nmrih")

Unzip this file.  The addons and cfg folder should be placed in your primary NMRIH folder
C:\SRCDS\nmrih\
Step 5: For all dedicated server installations, the server config file is required to be added to your NMRiH dedicated server configuration:
NMRiH server.cfg File Script to be placed in your nmrih/cfg folder

server.cfg file can be downloaded by clicking the icon to the left
