Infestation: Survivor Stories

  1. What makes [ZG] Community servers different from others?

It is without a doubt our player community!  The Zombie Gaming [ZG] community has great players and great admins.  We leverage a wide variety of sourcemod plugins that enable a self governing environment (as much as possible).  These plugins include, team kill (TK) manager, anti-flood/hack, anti-mic spam, rock the vote (RTV), map nomination, and kick/ban player voting.   [ZG] employs Sourcebans to track and manage banned players.  We have enhancement plugins to include pills cure, damage displayers and the ability to identify admins who are currently playing on the server.  We also leverage HLStatsX to rank our players.  Our server admins are fun to play with.  They take their job serious and strive to keep gameplay moving by being swift and fair.  Ultimately, we try to do our best to resolve any issues in order to make this server an enjoyable experience.

  1. I am new to Steam, where can I find help?

There is a Steam user knowledge base (how to's) which can be found here.

  2. What do I do when I get the error message, disconnected: Invalid Steam UserID Ticket?

When receiving the invalid Steam User ID Ticket error when trying to connect to the server, there are two known fixes for this:

    Fix Option Number 1:

    1. Completely close Steam
    2. Delete the ClientRegistry.blob file located in your Steam Directory
    3. Run Steam.exe

If fix option number 1 does not work, then try fix option number 2 (below):

Fix Option Number 2:  Delete config folder in the main steam folder:

    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\config (x64)
    • C:\Program Files\Steam\config (x86)

If fix option number 2 does not work, then try fix option number 3 (below):

Fix Option Number 3:  Delete EVERYTHING in your steam folder EXCEPT for:

    • Steam.exe
    • Steamapps FOLDER
    • Friends FOLDER

More information on this issue can be found here:

Gameplay & Client

  1. How do I enable sprays on ZPS?

All [ZG] ZPS Servers allow sprays. Zombies do not have the ability to use sprays.

    1)  To enable sprays, please do the following:

Go to Options->Multiplayer->Advanced and make sure the the check-box next to "Disable Sprays" is unchecked.  If that is not working, go into console and set cl_playerspraydisable to 0.

    2)  To add your custom spray

You need to add your .vmt and .vtf file to the following directory (located in the main steam directory)

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Source SDK Base 2007\zps\materials\VGUI\logos

    3)  Help

    Create Custom Sprays

    ZG Custom Spray Files

  2. How do I modify my existing crosshair on ZPS?

    To modify the existing crosshair:

    1) Set up a folder path like this, C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Source SDK Base 2007\zps\materials\VGUI\images\hud

Note that there already will be a folder path up to the VGUI and the logos folder will be there already too, from here just create folders with the name corresponding to the path.

    2) Place the crosshair.vtf into that newly created folder

  3. How do I create custom crosshairs?

To create custom crosshairs, please go to the following link:

  4. I see purple checkerboards on game models, how can I verify that my game files are installed correctly?

This is a common problem.  In some cases this is server based and there is nothing you can really do about this.  However, here are some options:

    1) Update your video card drivers to the latest version

    2) Verifying Game Cache Files (GCF)

    • Click the following for instructions on how to check this here

  5. How can I record my game live?

There are a number of recording programs out there that will allow you to record your gameplay in realtime.  Below are two that Zombie Gaming recommends:

  6. When trying to connect to steam game, I get an error saying "missing map"

In the event that you receive a message when about to connect to a steam server such as missing map, you most likely have a half-downloaded or corrupted map in your map folder inventory.

The fix for this is to remove that map completely from your game/maps folder.  Navigate to the following folder on the drive where you have the steam game installed:

    For Contagion

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\ContagionBeta\contagion\maps

    For NMRIH

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\nmrih\nmrih\maps

    For ZPS

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Source SDK Base 2007\zps\maps
